One of the most beautiful villages in Baranya county is Cserkút. Flowers decorate the streets, it has old but beautiful farmhouses, which charm the settlement lying at the foothill of Jakab Hill a quiet, cozy place. Here you can find everything you need for a weekend getaway, summer vacation. Cottages await the visitors, there are fishing lakes, temple from the age of the Árpáds, the eponymous village well. And here you will find the Mezesfeszer in Cserkút as well.

The Cserkúti Mézesfészer was built by a successful contest, the courtesy of LEADER, specifically for the presentation and sale of traditional food and local products..

The Cserkúti Mézesfészer represents natural, rustic, home-style, traditional things. The food and products produced by small farmers, a considered rarity oven baking and the outdoor cooking and the special catering, offer something peculiar for the guests, not to mention the quiet, close to nature pastime and recreation opportunities.

The Cserkúti Mézesfészer aim to convey their guests their own unique products, the local and traditional peasant dishes, culinary habits, by creating a nostalgic atmosphere.

The shed is fully open, makes an excellent venue for different presentations and family events, business gatherings

The building has everything that is needed for a comfortable relaxation. The Mézesfészer is open in winter. Adjusting to winter weather a rebuilt, "padded" with straw bales place awaits visitors that charms with its unique exterior and interior a truly special atmosphere even in the cold winter days. The mulled wine, hot soups only add to the cozy atmosphere.

The Cserkúti Mézesfészer hold an open day every month, during which anyone can visit the cabin without prior appointment, can get to know the design history of Mézesfészer and everything experienced during the designing period.

In the Cserkúti Mézesfészer by prior arrangement accommodation may be provided and events might be held and organized.

Program offers:

The sights in Cserkut

  • A 1000-year-old church famous for its frescoes and mini calvary
  • the exhibition of local history and stonework finds are open to visitors
  • 50 meters west of the church there is the eponymous well of the village and the wash house ruins can be viewed.
  • At the bottom part of the village in beautiful surroundings there is a little lake, where you can fish by purchasing a daily ticket
  • There is a soccer field and a playground, too.

The village is the starting and end point of several walking trails, the blue tourist path starting from the center of the village leads up to Jakab Hill.

Programs in Cserkut

  • Early May, a public excursion and picnic to Jakab Hill and at the end of May the Children's Day programs
  • The last weekend of June village's day and diverse programs, evening fireworks
  • On August 20, Bread Festival is held, where there are folk games, baking bread and lots of interesting things for people to get acquainted with
  • In November, the Martin's day feast and wine tasting.

Programs in Pecs and in the area

  • Pecs: Hungary's fifth largest city, Baranya County’s county town. The city is rich in monuments, it is considered the spiritual and cultural center of the region. The city's cultural life is nationally prominent as well as in the field of visual arts and music. The main sights: Cell Septichora Visitor Center, Zsolnay Museum, Vasarely Museum, National Theatre, Csontvary Museum, Kodály Centre, Zsolnay Cultural Quarter, TV tower, Tettye Tufa Cave, The Barbican, the Cathedral and many other sights and tourist destinations await visitors.
  • Orfű: The Mill Museum, The Village and Kemences Farm Museum, The Yurt Camp, Dragon Boating, Lake of Orfű, Lake of Pécs, the Herman Otto Lake and the Kovácsszénája Lake. Water sport activities, fishing, cycling, walking around the lakes and many possibilities for doing active sports and relaxing.
  • Abaliget: the Lake of Abaligeti for fishing, Boating Lake, Bat Museum, Barn Museum, parish and community hall, stalactite cave in Abaliget is one of the best known and most popular of the natural attractions in the Mecsek. An excellent choice for both family programs, recreational activities, doing sports or for recreation.
  • Villány: the wine region of Villany on which Hungary's first wine tour leads through is the bastion of domestic wine tourism. One can admire the art of excellent wine-making, the region's architectural and cultural heritage, one can enjoy its people’s hospitality, can taste the world-famous wines of Villany: Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch Cuvée.
  • Siklós: the town at the foothill of Tenkes mountain is the center of economic and cultural life of the region, famous for its wines, its castle and the countless monuments (Mosque of Melkocs bej, Calvinist church, Townhall of Siklos, Music Fountain etc.) that can be found in the town. Thanks to its excellent white wines (Riesling, "Hárslevelű", Traminer, Chardonnay) and its thermal bath Siklos offers an excellent setting for family and business programs and leisure activities.
